Air Bubble Agreement India Upsc

India has signed the Air Bubble agreement with 10 countries between the United States, Canada, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Maldives, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Afghanistan and Bahrain until 13.09.2020. Air bubbles have also been proposed with India`s neighbouring countries, including Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan. Background: The Baltic countries, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, have launched a “travel bubble” to get their economies back on track after the closure. In a series of tweets, the aviation minister announced that India was negotiating with 13 other nations on the establishment of “air bubbles” for international flights. India already has air bubbles with the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany, the Maldives and Qatar. The creation of a travel bubble involves the reconnection of countries or states that have shown good success in the fight against the new coronavirus pandemic on the national territory. However, India repatriated its citizens from the Interior under the Vande Bharat mission. On 29 July, the Ministry of the Interior (MHA) authorized limited international travel through the Vande Bharat Mission (VBM) repatriation mission. On 16 July, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) announced the introduction of air bubbles and the partial resumption of international flights to selected destinations in the United States, Germany and France. Since the travel bubble was launched after the closure to revive the economy of the COVID-19 effect, the Indian government has taken various other initiatives to contain the disease and keep it at the water`s edge. India is likely to sign an “air bubble agreement” for the operation of international flights with 13 other nations. This was stated by Aviation Minister Heraep Singh Puri on 18 August 2020.
